Don't forget your Valentines and Valentine's Day box on Monday for our party!!!
We had Fun Friday today and the students enjoyed playing Prisonball against Mrs. Talley's class. Students who had missing work had the opportunity to finish their assignments. Any assignments that were not turned in today remain as permanent zeros in the gradebook. The next Fun Friday will be announced this week.
Spelling/Vocabulary: Test was today. Students should now have 10 words, definitions, and sentences in their vocabulary logs. Students should be studying the words at home.
Reading/Comprehension: We were able to have our Lightning Thief Tournament this week. We had a lot of fun seeing what we knew about the book. We've read up to chapter 10. Next week, be sure to wear black on Feb. 15th! We'll continue our comprehension unit with some more lessons on visualizing.
Writing: We've answered multiple journal prompts before reading chapters in the Lightning Thief. This week we also did a writing activity where we spent some time writing down our thoughts. Then we attempted to turn our thoughts into a story. We'll continue working on this project. Next in writing we'll be working on persuasive essays.
Math: The students worked hard at home all week creating their mini me or mini rooms. In school we worked on changing decimals, percents, and fractions into each other. They were tested today on the concept so look for their test next week. We will begin learning about integers next.
Social Studies: The students memorized speeches about Famous Romans and went into other sixth grade classes today to share their speech with the other students. They looked great in their togas and I will post pictures soon.
Science: Students continue to learn about the phases of the moon from Mrs. Hansen.
