Math: After looking over our test results on chapter 2 (powers of 10, multiplying and dividing decimals) we decided that the whole sixth grade needed a day to review and a chance to bump up some of the scores. Students participated in math rotations and went to a class that retaught the areas they missed on the test. They were given a paper with make up problems that is due on Monday. When turned in I will correct it and add points to their test score for mastering the subject. Those who did extremely well on the test went to enrichment classes and were challenged further. The day was a great success! We have been learning about Prime Factorization, LCM, and GCF as a class. We will continue with this and fraction next week.
Social Studies: We learned about the Minoans, Myceneaens, and Dorians. They lived in Ancient Greece and conquered one another. Sadly the Dorians who conquered last were the least bright and a lot of knowledge was lost during this time. Next week we will be studying the Iliad and Odyssey.
Writing: We'll be pausing our mysteries to work on our Greek Expository Reports. Research is due on MONDAY!!! Points will be lost for late work and it will be extremely hard to catch up if a student is behind on their report. We'll focus on Expository text, sources, and writing a works cited page.
Reading: We are well into our book groups. We are still studying connections and will finish this next week now that we have more time with Keyboarding over as of today.
Spelling/Vocabulary: Don't forget to be studying the vocabulary words--3 more weeks until our next unit test! We took a test today and scores were back where I like to see them! :)
