Greek in-class presentations are this Thursday and Friday (Nov. 18th & 19th)

Greek Expository Reports are due Monday, November 22nd. Late reports cannot earn full credit.

Vocabulary Unit test will be Tuesday, November 23rd!!! Be sure to be studying your words!!!

On Thursday we celebrated Veteran's Day with a special guest speaker, Sergeant Jorgenson. Students made thank you cards for Sergeant Jorgenson and other Veterans to appreciate their gratitude.

Writing: We've been working hard on our Greek Reports. We will be finishing up our rough drafts in class. We'll have some time to type them in the computer lab next week. Remember that any information from Wikipedia has to be verified through another source. Wikipedia WILL NOT be an acceptable source to use in the report or presentation. Once we finish up our Greek Reports will finish publishing our Personal Narratives and continue working on our Mysteries.

Reading: We'll be starting our next comprehension strategy, questioning, next week. Students have done an excellent job of expanding on their connections to explain why that particular connection helps them understand what they are reading. Ken Garff reading calendars have been sent home. They will be due Wednesday, December 1st. This is an easier way to keep track of how many days in the month the students read and will be helpful in determining how many tickets they get to enter into the bike drawing. Reading groups are going strong. A couple of groups are almost finished with their books.

Spelling/Vocabulary: Another reminder that the unit vocabulary test will be on Tuesday, November 23rd. Please be studying your words this week and next in order to be prepared for the test! The last five vocabulary words will be announced on Monday following the Spelling Pre-Test.

Science: This is the last week of Mrs. Talley's heat, light, and sound science Unit. The students will be tested on this knowledge on Tuesday, November 23rd. If a student is absent that day they will take the test the following Monday, November 29th.

Social Studies: We read a version of Homer's Oddyssey on mythweb.com. We sung a rap about the adventure and made our own Oddysseys by taking an everyday event adding obstacles, monsters and Greek gods.

Math: I am so proud of the students LCM GCF tests. We reviewed fraction concepts of Equivalence, and simplifying. Students will have a math test at the end of this week.
The multiplying and dividing decimals test will be sent home Monday, Novemeber 15th. The students had a second chance to master concepts that they missed on the test in reteach rotation groups. They were given make up worksheets. If these were turned in and they had understood the concept I added points to their test score. If they did not turn in the worksheet their scores stayed the same. Thank you to those students who got the work turned in.
