Friday, Oct. 1

Remember: Reflection projects are due on Friday Oct. 8th!
Also, make sure to call the school to schedule your conference times coming up on October 28th.

Math: Students worked very hard on Algebra all week and took their test today! I was so impressed by their work ethic and hope that Algebra has become something they enjoy doing. We will be studying decimals next week.

Science: We made "Squash Books" in class to help study for our Seasons test that will be Thursday, October 7. Make sure your student is studying!!

Social Studies: The students experienced the Egyptian class system. Most of them felt it was unfair and are glad to live in a free and equal country.

Spelling & Vocabulary: Test was today. Congrats to Parker Folsom who earned a 100%! I would strongly suggest that those students who received less than 80% complete the extra credit crossword puzzle. This will be due by Wednesday. The culminating unit vocabulary test is this week! Vocabulary logs will be due on Friday. Please be studying those definitions! Some study tips: know antonyms and synonyms of the words, know how to write them in a sentence, and know how to draw the definition of the word.

Reading: We finished up Metacognition this week and moved onto Monitoring for Meaning. Students are learning several strategies for turning vocabulary "clunks" or words they don't know into vocabulary "clicks" or words they figured out. We will continue working on Monitoring for Meaning this next week when we read an excerpt from a story called, "The Mozart Season."

Writing: Students continued with Personal Narratives and having Chief Edit conferences. Students will get some free writing time this week as we try to wrap up our Personal Narratives before we begin our next unit.

*Vocabulary test is Friday! STUDY, STUDY, STUDY!*
