Thursday, Oct. 28

We had a FABULOUS Halloween Party on Thursday! Many thanks to Mrs. Argyle, Mrs. Rennie, Mrs. Skinner, Mrs. Beutler, and Mrs. Trapnell!!! Pictures to come soon!
We enjoyed meeting with those parents who were able to come to SEPs! Thank you for your support! We look forward to a good start to a brand new term on Monday!

Reading: We continued to meet with reading groups. We started our Connections unit. Parents, ask your student what connections they are making in a book they are currently reading. Be sure to have your student explain how that connection helped them better understand the story!

Spelling: We took our spelling test on Thursday. The overall class scores were lower than usual. Please be sure you are studying your words at home!

Writing: We didn't have too much time for Writing this week, but we will have a lot more once Keyboarding is over this coming Friday! :) We'll pause with Mysteries for a bit and work on our upcoming Greek Reports!

Math: Students finished learning how to multiply and divide decimals. They also learned about Scientific Notation.

Science: Students turned in wonderful sound instruments to finsh their sound unit. They will be moving on to light next week.

Friday, Oct. 22

Reading: We officially started book groups this week! We are reading some very interesting books! We are also finishing up Monitoring for Meaning and starting a quick review of Connections. In sixth grade, we want to understand why a connection helps us to better understand what we're reading.
Spelling: We had a week off of Spelling, but will start up again next week with a Pre-Test on Monday and 5 new Vocabulary words.
Writing: We've been having a lot of fun with our new genre, mysteries! We've been solving some mysteries online and we even got to play a mystery game to help spark some ideas! We'll continue with mysteries this next week.

For Spelling this week we are studying the difference between words with ie and words with ei. This will be a tricky test, so make sure you are studying hard!
